National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Cuban Ambassador
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of Cuba Leyde Ernesto Rodríguez Hernández.
Ambassador Hernandez thanked the Speaker for the hospitality and congratulated her on the appointment for head of parliament. He also delivered the congratulatory message of Cuban Head of Parliament Esteban Hernandez on her taking up the new position. The ambassador went on to present the Parliament Speaker with an invitation letter to the seminar on parliamentary diplomacy, to be organised in September, in cooperation with the "Raúl Roa García" Higher Institute for International Relations.
The Assembly Speaker emphasised that relations between Serbia and Cuba are traditionally good and friendly and have been for more than 120 years. She stressed her willingness to further strengthen cooperation in all areas of mutual interest, especially in the field of parliamentary cooperation, which was confirmed by the signing of the Protocol on Cooperation between the two parliaments in 2015.
Highlighting the importance of strengthening political, economic and cultural ties between the two countries, the Speaker announced the formation of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Cuba.
Both sides agreed that there are great opportunities for deepening cooperation and agreed to intensify contacts at all levels in order to achieve common goals and interests.
