National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets Iranian Ambassador to Serbia

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Ambassador of Iran Rashid Hassan Pour Baei with whom she noted that the countries' bilateral relations are good and that there are no obstacles to their continued development.

In the course of the conversation, the National Assembly Speaker emphasised her readiness to work on further improving relations between the two countries through parliamentary cooperation during her mandate and expressed her deep gratitude to Iran for respecting Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and not recognizing the so-called Republic of Kosovo.

Brnabic also said that she is particularly glad that Serbia and Iran have excellent cooperation within the "World in Serbia" programme, and that she firmly believes that investing in young people is investing in the future and that this contributes to strengthening our cooperation in the field of education as well.

Ambassador Rashid Hassan Pour Baei wholeheartedly thanked National Assembly Speaker for supporting the development of relations with Iran in her previous post as Prime Minister, expressing his belief that she would continue in the same vein in her new post. He also said that Iran attaches great importance to parliamentary cooperation and that the two countries’ parliamentary friendship groups can be a strong engine of preservation and strengthening of bilateral cooperation.

At the meeting, the officials expressed the wish to develop joint projects that will contribute to the strengthening of economic cooperation considering its potential with an emphasis on increasing the volume of trade, as well as for the continued organisation of high-level visits.
