National Assembly Service Activity Report for Period 11 June 2008 - 13 March 2012 Presented

Today, at the National Assembly House, the MPs, representatives of national and international organisations, National Assembly staff and the public were presented the National Assembly Service Activity Report for the period 11 June 2008 - 13 March 2012.

Addressing the assembly, National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic stated that in the course of its four-year mandate the National Assembly passed key legislation setting the foundations for its work, intensified its control function, established independent state organs, boosted its openness and pro-civic orientation, which would not have been possible without the expertise provided by the Service.
The Head of the OSCE Democratisation Department Jan Lueneburg deemed that that the work of the National Assembly and its support Service had been very serious and intensive in the last four years. The National Assembly opening up to the public and citizens was one of the main achievements, which was greatly assisted by the National Assembly Service.
Professor Slavisa Orlovic from the Belgrade Faculty of Political Sciences spoke of the work of the National Assembly Support Service stating that the Service greatly contributed to the improvement of the National Assembly’s work, which more often than not remained insufficiently visible and appreciated. In addition to day-to-day business, the National Assembly Service also worked on its own training and professional development, said Orlovic.
National Assembly Secretary General Veljko Odalovic thanked the National Assembly staff for their excellent work in the course of the mandate. He deemed that the support Service successfully followed the 518 days of National Assembly plenary sessions, intensive international cooperation and the National Assembly opening up to the public.
The presentation of the National Assembly Service Activity Report for the period 11 June 2008 - 13 March 2012 was followed by a video presentation.
