National Assembly Legislative Committee and ODIHR Office Warsaw Sign Memorandum of Understanding
Today in Warsaw, Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Vlatko Ratkovic and Ambassador of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) Janez Lenarcic signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the National Assembly Legislative Committee and ODIHR Office.
The Memorandum of Understanding means cooperation in the sphere of legal reform which would improve the legislative process and contribute to the integration of the Republic of Serbia into the European Union.
Based on the Memorandum of Understanding, the National Assembly Legislative Committee and ODIHR Office will realise a joint project aimed at improving the legislative process, in line with international standards and practice. The project will include a thorough evaluation of the legislative system, existing mechanisms and procedures for the preparation, drafting, adoption, evaluation, publication and monitoring of the legislation. The results will be used to establish the priority areas on the road of legislative reform which would enable further progress in ensuring a better quality of legislation.
The Legislative Committee delegation continues its visit to Warsaw tomorrow with a meeting with the representatives of the Legislative Committee of the Seym (Parliament) of the Republic of Poland.
