National Assembly Deputy Speaker Ragus with Parliamentary Delegation Receive Chinese Delegation

National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with China Marina Ragus and a number of members of the PFG with China, received in the National Assembly the delegation of the Ethnic Affairs Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference headed by Committee member Yang Xiaobo.

Marina Ragus expressed her satisfaction with the frequent meetings of MPs with delegations from the People's Republic of China, pointing out that this indicates that the vision of peace, stability and global development shared by Serbia and China is gaining weight in these challenging times, as well as that an increasing number of countries are beginning to understand our shared philosophy of peace.

She stressed that the "steely friendship" founded by our two presidents, Xi Jinping and Aleksandar Vucic, endures in these challenging times. She drew attention to the MPs’ focus on cooperation and close contacts with fellow parliamentarians from China, what with the 101-strong Parliamentary Friendship Group with China being the largest in the National Assembly.

Yang Xiaobo pointed out that Serbia is the first country in the Central-Eastern Europe region with which China has a comprehensive partnership and expressed satisfaction that presidents Xi and Vucic are focused on deepening that partnership.

He also informed the MPs about the position and role of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which occupies an important place in the political system of the People's Republic of China. He said that this role is consultative - analysing policies and their implementation.

The meeting was also attended by MPs Biljana Pantic Pilja, Dunja Simonovic Bratic and Aleksandar Mirkovic, who, together with the National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus, expressed great gratitude for China's support to our country in all difficult times, especially emphasising their gratitude for respecting international law and Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. They also pointed out that Serbia supports China’s national interests and the “One China” policy. They also opined that Chinese investments played a very significant role in the economic recovery and economic progress of Serbia.
