National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic Elected Rapporteur of OSCE PA General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions
Today, on the fourth day of the 22nd Annual Session of the OSCE PA, National Assembly Deputy Speaker Gordana Comic was elected rapporteur of the organisation’s General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights and Humanitarian Questions.
Deputy Speaker Comic won in the first round of elections for the position by decisive 39 votes, while the counter-candidates from the delegations of Ireland (Ann Phelan) and Sweden (Maria Lundquist-Bromster) won 12 and 15 votes respectively.
The National Assembly Deputy Speaker’s election for the Committee’s rapporteur is a significant recognition of Serbia’s work in the OSCE PA and the overall results it achieved in the domain of human rights.
The 22nd Annual Session of the OSCE PA is taking place in Istanbul, from 29 June to 3 July 2013.
