The Head of the National Assembly delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO PA) MA Milovan Drecun and delegation member Aleksandar Pavic took part, via zoom, in the meeting of the CSTO PA Standing Committee on Political Issues and International Cooperation, held in Saint Petersburg.
In his address, the Head of the delegation to CSTO PA MA Milovan Drecun underlined the historically friendly relations between Russia and Serbia who stood side by side in one of the most difficult historical moments, the fight against fascism.
“Serbia is celebrating 80 years since the liberation of Belgrade from the fascist occupation. Serbs, as a people, remember hard and well all that was good and all that was bad, they remember the joint struggle of the Red Army with our liberation units. Our friendship was forged in the memory of the sacrifices made in that joint struggle. We fought against the greatest evil, fascism, and now we are faced with what in many places is actually a renewal of those terrible fascist ideas and an attempt to revise history," said Drecun.
The meeting focused on the realisation of the priority issues of Kazakhstan’s presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation in 2024, as well as the CSTO activities in the period between sessions and ratifications of international agreements concluded within the CSTO.
The parliamentarians formulated recommendations and considered the results of the work of the parliamentary delegations of the CSTO member states at the 31st OSCE PA Annual Session and at the 149th IPU Assembly, as well as the documents that arrived at the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly from the parliaments of the CSTO member states.
