National Assembly Delegation Visits Shenzhen and Dongguan

After Beijing, the National Assembly delegation is currently visiting Shenzhen, third city according to GDP in China.

The delegation was greeted by the heads of the city’s Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress.

Also, in the city of Dongguan, the delegation visited the headquarters of the telecommunication company Huawei.

On the occasion, the advisor to the National Assembly Speaker Mihailo Jovanovic said that the delegation headed by National Assembly Deputy Speaker Marina Ragus had the opportunity to see the company’s newest development trends. He stressed that this Chinese company earns an annual profit of around 100 billion euros and invests as much as 30% of it into innovations, new technologies and development.

“We can draw a parallel with what is happening in Serbia. In the last 20 years we have built four science and technology parks, one of the Government’s strategies is investment into innovation and development, new technologies, we are working on expanding the science and technology parks and building a large Innovation District in Kragujevac and BIO4 Campus in Belgrade. For us, this confirms that investing into science, innovation and development is very important, which we saw on the example of “Huawei”. We also saw that investing into artificial intelligence is a significant matter. With each step we can see the implementation of artificial intelligence in different sectors, such as public infrastructure, construction, energy, education, smart cities, etc”, said Jovanovic.

He concluded that it is good that, trough the Serbia 2027 Programme, modernisation, investment into science, technology, innovation and digitisation were set as priorities, adding that he is sure this visit would contribute to new ideas for their speedier realisation.
