National Assembly Delegation Meets with OSCE PA Representatives
National Assembly Deputy Speaker Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic and the members of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to OSCE Parliamentary Assembly met, at the National Assembly House, with OSCE PA Special Representative on South East Europe Roberto Battelli and the Head of the OSCE PA Vienna Liaison Office Andreas Nothelle.
Deputy Speaker Marinkovic highlighted Serbia’s dedication to nurturing good-neighbourly relations and regional cooperation, focusing on the country’s commitment to a consistent implementation of the Brussels Agreement.
OSCE PA Special Representative on South East Europe Roberto Battelli emphasised the important role the National Assembly plays in the implementation of the reforms, saying that the country should continue the judiciary reform so as to improve not just the business climate, but the overall quality of living as well.
Addressing the members of the OSCE PA delegation, the Head of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to OSCE PA Dr Dijana Vukomanovic opined that the OSCE greatly contributes to the maintenance of peace and stability in the region of South East Europe. At the same time, Dijana Vukomanovic also highlighted Serbia’s role in the maintenance of regional stability and pointed out the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for the establishment and maintenance of constructive dialogue in the region.
Gordana Comic, member of the National Assembly’s standing delegation to OSCE PA, said that Serbia has to deal with problems such as social inequality, resulting from global inequality, high unemployment rate and drain of skilled professionals.
Irena Arsic, member of the standing delegation, informed the OSCE PA delegation about the National Assembly’s representative function and the role the parliamentarians play in the promotion of organisations which as the OSCE, while delegation member Meho Omerovic spoke of the intense activities of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality which he chairs, aimed at protecting human and minority rights and combating violence against women.
