National Assembly Delegation Leaves Conference in Montenegro

The delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, comprising Snezana Paunovic, Deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and Chairperson of the Committee on the Economy, Regional Development, Trade, Tourism and Energy, and Ugljesa Markovic, Chairman of the Committee on Spatial Planning, Transport, Infrastructure and Telecommunications, left the Interparliamentary Conference. "Benefits of the Berlin Process: A special focus on the Common Regional Market", held on 26 June 2024 in Montenegro. The conference was held within the broader regional project "Parliamentary Diplomacy: Regional Cooperation through Enhanced Parliamentary Dialogue", financed by the German Federal Foreign Office.

After the discussion in the first panel during which one could hear untrue and unfounded attacks on Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and the state of Serbia by representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Parliament of Albania and the PISG in Pristina, Snezana Paunovic stressed that Serbia is ready to implement all the agreements and constructive dialogue within the Berlin process. She pointed out that Serbia, as the strongest economy in the Western Balkans, is focused on prosperity and the future, but above all, a sovereign country where citizens democratically elect their representatives. It is unacceptable, said Paunovic, that the President of the Republic of Serbia, who was legitimately and legally elected by the will of the citizens, is accused and insulted by representatives of those whose leadership is appointed by the centers of power, by decree.

Under the circumstances where the primary goal of the Conference should have been the improvement of regional cooperation, establishment of a common regional market and the improvement of the quality of life of citizens in the region, swas misused for cheap political, demagogic, untrue and unprofessional presentations, committee chairpersons Paunovic and Markovic left the Conference.
