NARS Speaker Visits Istanbul

As the PABSEC Chair, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic paid an official visit to the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Istanbul today.



As the PABSEC Chair, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic paid an official visit to the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (PABSEC) in Istanbul today.

On the occasion, the NARS Speaker met with PABSEC Secretary General Alexey Kudriavtsev and signed a convocation inviting all 12 parliaments of the organisation’s member countries as well as about 40 observers from non-member countries to attend the 35th PABSEC session in Belgrade from 1 to 3 June 2010.

Djukic-Dejanovic stressed that the parliament’s role in strengthening international law would be the main topic of the 35th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation in Belgrade. “At the meeting in Belgrade, the representatives of the12 member countries i.e. their parliaments shall discuss economic, cultural and other types of cooperation”, Djukic-Dejanovic added.

Since October 2004, PABSEC has been an essential element of the Serbian Assembly’s parliamentary activity and the Serbian delegation is very active in the organisation, as well as being its Chair in the first half of the year”, Djukic-Dejanovic said.

PABSEC is one of four related bodies of the Organisation of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation which represents an important forum for the strengthening of member countries’ parliaments tasked with stimulating and developing cooperation in the creation and strengthening of a favourable political and economic climate in the region.
