“The fact that only four percent of citizens report sexual abuse when it does not involve them or their families personally is cause for concern which should prompt us to call upon the citizens to do their civil duty and obligation to prevent such behaviour so that the police and other authorities could do their job”, said Djukic Dejanovic.

The NARS Speaker, who is also the Chair of the Serbian Assembly’s Children’s Rights Working Group, said that she joined the Incest Trauma Centre campaign because she believes that the implementation of a law is more important than its adoption and pointed out that the sanctioning of such behaviour, via procedure, calls for never closing one’s eyes, turning one’s head or closing one’s ears.

Director of Incest Trauma Centre – Belgrade Dusica Popadic thanked Djukic Dejanovic for, she said, her help in jointly sending the message as regards reporting sexual abuse of children.

In the first month the trolleybus bearing the message that the citizens should report sexual abuse of children to the police and the media should report on the topic of violence against women and children ethically will take rout 29, and change routs every month.

On entering the trolleybus for the promotional ride from Students Square to Hotel Moscow, the Assembly Speaker punched her ticket.
