The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of Iraq H.
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received the newly-appointed Ambassador of Iraq H.E. Dr. Falah Abdulhasan Abdulsada, who handed in his Letters of Accreditation in October this year.
The officials agreed that the history of relations between Serbia and Iraq is the proof of the two countries’ long and sincere friendship, adding that more intense parliamentary cooperation would boost overall bilateral relations. Both parliaments are soon expected to create Serbia-Iraq friendship groups, they stressed, stating that these parliamentary bodies, as well as relevant committees, could allow the deputies to give a special contribution to the cooperation between the two parliaments.
The Iraqi Ambassador highlighted the two countries’ military cooperation and the NARS Speaker added that the cooperation in the sphere of defense could provide the model for cooperation in other spheres, such as culture and science.
Abdulsada informed the Speaker on the current situation in Iraq, stressing that his country is currently facing great challenges, particularly when it comes to terrorism, but that he hopes that closer cooperation with friendly countries would prove significant for the future of Iraq.
Since Iraq is entering an era of complete reconstruction, according to the Ambassador, Serbian construction companies greatly renowned in Iraq, would be welcome to take part in the reconstruction in Iraq.
The Ambassador conveyed the Iraqi Parliament Speaker’s invitation to the Serbian Speaker to visit Iraq next year, which she accepted with pleasure.
