The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received today the Ambassador of the Republic of India, H.E. Nengcha Mukhopadhaya.

The officials agreed that the longstanding friendship between the two countries provides solid grounds for furthering cooperation in all spheres. Emphasising that India wants close and friendly relations with Serbia, the Ambassador stressed that it is India’s obligation, as a friendly country, to continue to support Serbia’s territorial integrity in future, for which the Assembly Speaker was particularly grateful.

The Assembly Speaker expressed pleasure at the commencement of cooperation processes in the spheres of agriculture, health care, infrastructure and electronics, but added that in the upcoming period, development of parliamentary cooperation as the bearer of democratic development should come into focus. Mukhopadhaya invited Djukic-Dejanovic again to visit the Indian Parliament in the second half of the year. The Assembly Speaker thanked the Ambassador for the invitation and suggested that development of cooperation between Serbian and Indian assembly bodies should not depend on meetings between parliamentary speakers.
