Today, at the National Assembly House, NARS Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic received a delegation of the Croatian Sabor headed by Neven Mimica, Parliament Deputy Speaker and Chairman of the European Integration Committee. The delegation comprised Frano Matusic, Foreign Policy Committee Chairman, Tonino Picula, Foreign Policy Committee member, Vesna Pusic, Chairperson of the National Committee for Monitoring Accession Negotiations between Croatia and the EU and Milorad Pupovac, European Integration Committee member.

Reminding that this was the Croatian Sabor’s return visit in the wake of the Serbian parliamentary friendship group’s visit to the Sabor in February, the officials agreed that close cooperation between parliamentary representatives, particularly friendship groups, represent the best incentive for other state institutions to establish better relations in the context of a shared European perspective.

The Croatian side briefed the NARS Speaker on the Sabor’s activities and activities concerning legislative harmonisation with EU legal legacies. Mimica stated that Croatia expects to complete all technical processes regarding EU accession this year. He stressed that Croatia advocates furthering regional cooperation and exchange of experiences on the road to European integration.

Djukic-Dejanovic expressed hope that the Sabor Speaker would visit Serbia this year pronouncing the cooperation between the two parliaments significant, useful and necessary, and stressing that the “cooperation was based on the both sides’ common interest”.
