On Tuesday, 14 December 2010, all the Arab ambassadors accredited in Belgrade organised a working lunch in honour of the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic.

In an exceptionally friendly working atmosphere the officials reminisced about the history of good relations between, formerly, Yugoslavia and now Serbia and the Arab countries, which have always been traditionally good and friendly. At the same time, they noted that such relations should be cultivated in all spheres where a comprehensive development of parliamentary cooperation could significantly help not only improve the already excellent political relations, but economic cooperation between Serbia and the Arab countries as well. They agreed to soon open up room for cooperation primarily between the Serbian Assembly’s committees and the parliamentary committees of Arab countries, where foreign affairs, international economic relations, culture and education committees should play a special role.

They also agreed to intensify the cooperation between the embassies of Arab countries accredited in Belgrade and the Serbian National Assembly.
