The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia congratulated 5 December, International Volunteer Day, commemorated around the world as the day when the UN established its Volunteer programme in 1970.
“Dear volunteers, your selfless efforts and participation in social processes and the development of a more humane and egalitarian democratic society of equal opportunities, promote solidarity, tolerance, equality, peace and non-violence and living in harmony with nature.
The Law on Volunteering, enacted in May of this year by the National Assembly, provided the legal framework for the role and status of volunteer.
I believe that our joint efforts will create better conditions for the growth and development of the individual and society, and a healthier living and social environment.
With heartfelt congratulations on your day, I wish you success in your further activities.”
