Milorad Mijatovic on Migration at UN Headquarters
Dr Milorad Mijatovic, member of the National Assembly’s delegation to the Inter-Parliamentary Union, is taking part in the UN Annual Parliamentary Hearing with the topic “Toward a global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration: A parliamentary perspective”.
“I am proud to say that the Serbian people had given significant support and assistance to the refugees, both individually and collectively. The attitude of the citizens of Serbia was not xenophobic and there had been no instances of violence or discrimination. We treat the migrants with respect and dignity” said Mijatovic.
The hearing was opened by the President of the UN General Assembly Miroslav Lajcak, and the participants were also addressed by the President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Gabriela Cuevas Barron. The hearing is attended by over 90 delegations from around the world.
