Meeting of Delegations of Serbian National Assembly and Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina

A delegation of the Serbian National Assembly met today at the National Assembly House with a delegation of the Joint Commission on human rights, children’s rights, youth, immigration, refugees, asylum and ethics of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, visiting Serbia form 16-18 January.



A delegation of the Serbian National Assembly met today at the National Assembly House with a delegation of the Joint Commission on human rights, children’s rights, youth, immigration, refugees, asylum and ethics of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, visiting Serbia form 16-18 January.

The delegation of the National Assembly was headed by the Chairperson of the Committee on Interethnic Relations, Ana Tomanova-Makanova and it comprised the Chairperson of the Committee on Health and the Family, Snezana Stojanovic-Plavsic, Bojana Aleksic, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Deputy Chairman of the Youth and Sports Committee, Miljan Randjelovic. The delegation of the Bosnia and Herzegovina PA comprised the Chairman of the Joint Commission on human rights, children’s rights, youth, immigration, refugees, asylum and ethics, Sadik Ahmetovic, and Commission members Ivo Miro Jovic and Denis Becirovic.

The delegation members exchanged experiences on the two parliaments’ activities, with a special focus on the possible improvement of both interparliamentary cooperation and overall relations of the two neighbouring countries. Joining the European Union was stressed as a shared goal of both Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, so there is no alternative to the cooperation of the two countries which must be intinsified on all levels.

During the talk, it was emphasised that parliamentary cooperation is of particular significance for the intensification of overall relations of the two countries and that it must be deepened in the upcoming period through the activities of friendship groups and more frequent contacts between parliamentary delegations, among other things, also through a joint stand of the delegations of the two parliaments in international organisations.

At the occasion, the delegations agreed on the organisation of a roundtable on the state and possibilities for the improvement of human and minority rights, the position of children and youth, with the participation of representatives of parliaments, governments and the civil sector of the two countries.
