MPs Natasa Vuckovic and Konstantin Samofalov Talk to NATO Parliamentary Assembly President

Members of Parliament Natasa Vuckovic and Konstantin Samofalov talked to the President of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Karl Lamers, at the National Assembly House.

The MPs stressed that Serbia was fully committed to implement reform adding that they expected it to receive European Union candidacy status by the end of the year. At the same time, they stated that they see no reason why Serbia would not receive a date for the beginning of negotiations on EU membership by the end of 2011.

In the meeting, the officials agreed that any type of violence in the north of Kosovo-Metohija would be counterproductive. MPs Vuckovic and Samofalov stressed that Serbia cannot accept any unilateral act which might alter the situation in the field, emphasising the need to continue the dialogue.

The MPs pointed out that, as a member of the Partnership for Peace, Serbia enjoys excellent cooperation with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. Both sides stressed their wish to improve bilateral parliamentary cooperation between Serbia and Germany.
