MP Pantic Pilja Takes Part in Meeting of PACE Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy

The Head of the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Biljana Pantic Pilja took part in the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy, held on 11 December 2024, in Paris.

In the keyword address it was stressed that the issue of so-called Kosovo’s application for the status of special guest of the Council of Europe will be considered at the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy to be held during the Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in January 2025. Belgrade managed to have the issue not be debated at the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy in Paris 11 December 2024, despite Pristina’s efforts to speed up the procedure.

In addition to the many topics debated, Alexis Tsipras, Chairman of the Sub-Committee on the Western Balkans, presented to the members of the Committee, the conclusions of the Sub-Committee meeting held in Belgrade on 10 and 11 October of this year.

He stressed that many constructive issues were debated, among them issues that cause divisions in the region. “We should invest in pace and dialogue, mutual respect and understanding and build bridges of friendship in the Balkans”, Tsipras concluded.

The meeting of the Sub-Committee on External Relations held on 11-13 November 2024, in which the Serbian delegation took part, was also mentioned.
