MP Jovanov Meets with Representatives of UK Embassy in Serbia

Member of Parliament and Head of the ALEKSANDAR VUCIC – Serbia Must Not Stop Parliamentary Group Milenko Jovanov met today with William Hopkinson, Head of the Political Department, and Jack Watson, Second Secretary of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Serbia.

The officials discussed the work of the National Assembly in the previous period and the work plan for the coming period. Jovanov pointed out that the parliamentary opposition has returned to the National Assembly and that there have been no more incidents like last year.

"The National Assembly and its working bodies are functioning, and only three parliamentary groups are not participating in the work. It is good for both society and the National Assembly itself that the debate is conducted in parliament, not on the street," Jovanov said.

The Head of the Political Department of the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Serbia, William Hopkinson, expressed his satisfaction that the Parliament is once again operational and functional.

The officials also exchanged opinions on the recommendations given to Serbia by the ODIHR, the calming of tensions in society, parliamentary procedures, the situation in the media sphere, the election of REM members, while special attention was paid to Serbia's European path.

Jovanov emphasised that Serbia should receive a positive impulse from the EU and assessed that the message of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic regarding the integration of the entire Western Balkans into the EU could bring a lot not only to the countries of the region, but primarily to the EU itself.
