On the occasion, she also said that on 20 June 2014 the National Assembly had adopted the Decision on the establishment of the Commission to monitor the Resolution 1325 NAP in its current mandate.
“Serbia is among the first countries to pass a NAP for the implementation of Resolution 1325 aimed at emphasising the damaging effect of armed conflict and drawing attention to the role of women in the establishment of peace and post-conflict recovery”.
“Pursuing its control role, the National Assembly’s Commission monitoring the implementation of Resolution 1325 made sure to establish multi-sector cooperation among the public administration bodies, cooperation between the public administration bodies and civil society organisations as well as international organisations, and also draw attention to the problems that need to be eliminated in the future implementation of the NAP: budgeting and media support”.
“Modern Serbia is more than aware of the indispensable role of women in the resolution of conflict and establishment of peace, aware that women’s role in achieving equality in the defence system contributes to the stability and security of the entire region and that women in the Serbian Army have proved themselves highly trained, dedicated and responsible in the performance of their tasks.”
“I am sure today’s conference will launch many issues, analyses and conclusions on social stereotypes of women in uniform and women in general, their representation and portrayal in the media, their education as well as their chances for advancement and career building”.
