MP Branimir Jovanovic met today with the Second Counsellor of the Embassy of Hungary in Belgrade David Hetei.
Jovanovic recalled the important step made ten years ago, that of the historic reconciliation of the two countries whose cooperation has since then demonstrated an unstoppable progress as evidenced by the status of Serbs in Hungary and Hungarians in Serbia.
The officials agreed that the cooperation and good relations between the two countries are based on the exceptionally friendly relations which are the result of the efforts and contributions of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. That is why, they believe, additional efforts should be invested through parliamentary diplomacy to make sure the cooperation between the two countries continues to develop.
Jovanovic thanked Hungary for supporting Serbia’s EU accession process, stressing that joining the European Union remains the country’s primary foreign policy goal, with Hetei stressing that Serbia can count on Hungary’s continued support on its path to Europe.
Hetei said that Hungary enjoys exceptional relations with Serbia and that parliamentarians should be the link that contributes to the understanding between the two peoples, the activation of dialogue on current issues and joint advancements in the fields of education, tourism, economy and agriculture.
