MP Bojan Torbica Meets with Korean Ambassador to Serbia
MP Bojan Torbica, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea met today with the Ambassador of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Ri Pyong Du.
Torbica said that the two countries have never had any open issues and the decades-long friendship between the two countries has always been characterised by traditionally good relations. This is evidenced by, Torbica said, Kim Il-sung, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, being m an honorary citizen of Belgrade in 1984. The MP stated that the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the Democratic People's Republic of Korea was informed about the events in that country via the bulletins the embassy sends to the National Assembly, adding that establishing cooperation with the Serbian media and citizens could help the public learn more about the culture and events in Korea. Torbica thanked Korea for not recognising the so-called State of Kosovo and its admission to UNESCO. He said that Serbia knows what the struggle for sovereignty means, under the pressure of world powers and the introduction of sanctions, and that Serbia is a faithful friend to Korea on these issues. He also stressed that the Parliamentary Friendship Group would accept an invitation for a visit at the first opportunity and cooperate more closely with the embassy. He concluded that the Parliamentary Friendship Group would try to establish closer communication and cooperation to help improve bilateral relations as is expected from a traditionally good friendship.
