The conference was attended by a large number of parliamentarians from all over the world, who expressed their views on the global security challenges that shake the world today.

Speaking at the panel on "Global security and lasting peace", MP Aleksandar Mirkovic emphasised that current security challenges, risks and threats are indivisible and know no national borders, however, neither can global security or lasting peace be achieved unless the same principles apply to all.

In that context, the Republic of Serbia recognises the importance of the Global Security Initiative, launched by President Xi. Accordingly, Aleksandar Mirkovic used his participation to thank the countries that respect Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed special gratitude to the host, the People's Republic of China, which firmly stands on the side of international law and supports Serbia in this matter, especially in the matter of our southern province of Kosovo-Metohija.

Mirkovic also stressed that Serbia supports the One China Policy and emphasised that the relations between the two countries are at a historical high thanks to mutual respect and support, and above all the personal relationship between President Aleksandar Vucic and President Xi Jinping.

He said that the Republic of Serbia is ready to contribute to the realisation of this Initiative and the reaffirmation of the principles on which the Initiative rests, namely respect for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of all countries, i.e. commitment to respecting the principles of the United Nations Charter and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

These are the principles that Serbia consistently respects, making a sincere contribution to building a safe and prosperous environment.
