Linta Attends Commemoration of Sufferings of Serbs in Skelani (Municipality of Srebrenica)

The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Miodrag Linta attended the commemoration of the sufferings of Serbs from Skelani and the entire territory of the Municipality of Srebrenica on Thursday, 16 January 2020.

After the service Linta held a speech before the attending families of the victims, guests and people, stressing that the tragic fact is that 25 years have elapsed since the end of the war yet none of the order-givers or perpetrators of the horrific and brutal crimes have been punished. He said that we could not expect justice from the Hague Tribunal because it was not a professional and unbiased court but a political one with the goal to put the Serbian people on trial based on myth and false accusations. It is a well-known fact that the Serbian people can expect no justice from the court and prosecution of Bosnia and Herzegovina he said, because those are not unbiased professional institutions either, but an ethnically motivated judiciary. Linta said that he had said it publically, on many occasions, that it is important that the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office, which has legal authority over the territory of former Yugoslavia, launch investigations and bring to trial the persons against whom there is evidence to have committed crimes against Serbian prisoners of war and civilians. Bringing all war criminals, despite of national or religious affiliation, is a pre-requisite for reconciliation in the Balkans.

Linta said that “for 25 years since the end of the war the Serbian people have been listening almost every day to barefaced lies and falsehoods of Bosniak politicians from Sarajevo that reportedly Serbia and its people have perpetrated aggression in Bosnia and Herzegovina and genocide against Muslims in Srebrenica, that the glorious day of the Republic of Srpska 9 January is allegedly the beginning i.e. precursor to the mass crime and genocide against Bosniaks. These and many other are reasons why it is important that the Serb people stand united. There are more struggles to come for the Serb people, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska, one which requires more fortitude, and that is the fight to spread the truth about the real reasons of the wars on the territory of former Yugoslavia and the suffering of Serbs”. According to Linta, from one part of the document published by the UK Ministry of Justice it is clear that the Army and leadership of the Republic of Srpska had no plans to conquer Srebrenica.

Service was held at the Central Monument for the Serb civilians and soldiers in Skelani near Srebrenica for the 305 Serbs from this and neighbouring villages killed in the armed conflict by Muslim forces, 69 of whom were killed on 16 January 1993. The service was attended by hundreds of people from Middle Podrinje from both sides of the Drina, as well as many delegations. The Chairman of the Committee on the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Miodrag Linta, member of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska Savo Vulic and General Milan Torbica on behalf of the Ministry of Labour and Veteran Disability Insurance of the Republic of Srpska laid wreaths and flowers at the monument, as did the delegations of the Alliance of Camp Survivors, veterans and Organization of the families of imprisoned and killed soldiers and missing civilians of the Republic of Srpska, soldiers’ organizations and the municipalities of Srebrenica, Bratunac, Zvornik and Bajina Basta in Serbia and many party organizations.
