Judges Take Oath of Office
The judges who had been returned to their function by decisions of the Constitutional Court of Serbia, took the oath of office at the Serbian National Assembly.
Serbian National Assembly Speaker Nebojsa Stefanovic said that this act corrects a great injustice.
Stefanovic told the judges that they are expected to judge in accordance with the Serbian Constitution and laws, to ensure a just trial for every citizen and contribute to the return of the much needed reputation to the judicial function to a great degree.
“I hope that the judiciary in this country will be truly independent, that you will judge lead by only your conviction, solely by the Constitution and laws of the country, that no one could exert pressure on you to make decisions in the interest of politicians, tycoons or some third party.
If you follow these tenets you will help raise Serbia’s reputation in the world”.
The judges who had been returned to their function by decisions of the Constitutional Court took the oath of office at the Serbian National Assembly. 193 out of 194 judges total took the oath of office.
