Indonesia Friendship Group Members Receive Indonesian Delegation

Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia, deputy Meho Omerovic and friendship group members Gordana Comic, National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Gabor Lodi and Zoran Antic received a delegation of the Republic of Indonesia headed by the Director of the Sector for Information and Public Diplomacy at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andri Hadi, at the National Assembly House today.



Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Indonesia, deputy Meho Omerovic and friendship group members Gordana Comic, National Assembly Deputy Speaker, Gabor Lodi and Zoran Antic received a delegation of the Republic of Indonesia headed by the Director of the Sector for Information and Public Diplomacy at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andri Hadi, at the National Assembly House today. The Indonesian Ambassador to Serbia Semuel Samson took part in the meeting.

In a cordial and open discussion, the officials confirmed the traditional friendship between the two countries and expressed a mutual belief that the two countries’ overall relations would continue to improve. They said that the cooperation between the Serbian and Indonesian parliament could provide significant stimulus for the overall bilateral relations, adding that parliamentary friendship groups play an important role in it.

The officials agreed that the role and influence of the parliament in society is becoming increasingly important. The issue of gender equality and improvement of the position of women in society, as well as their taking up more important positions in both countries’ parliaments was said to receive a lot of attention in both Serbia and Indonesia.

Parliamentary Group Head Meho Omerovic expressed pleasure that Belgrade was the host to a successful Conference on Interreligious Dialogue to which Indonesia had sent a delegation. Indonesian delegation head Andri Hadi said that he shares the opinion that the gathering organised in order to acknowledge the differences among its participants and their respective nations and gathering representatives of all religious communities was very successful.

Following the meeting, the Indonesian delegation members were taken on a tour of the National Assembly House where the First Conference of Non-Aligned States was held 50 years ago.
