India Respects Serbia’s Territorial Integrity and Sovereignty
“India will continue to support Serbia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and remains firm in the decision not to recognize the self-declared independence of Kosovo”, said Indian Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Narinder Chauhan in her meeting with the members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with India.
Indian Ambassador Chauhan opined that the relations between India and Serbia are good, reflected in the mutual support for one another’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and support in international forums. She shared her concerns about last night’s events in Kosovo-Metohija and invited the Serbian parliamentarians to visit the Indian Parliament.
PFG member Marija Obradovic spoke about the situation in Kosovo-Metohija denouncing the abovementioned events which she said are no way to communicate in 21st century Europe.
“We cannot let things like this repeat. The EU and the international community were not aware that this was the way the so-called Kosovo institutions behave and not the way they present themselves in Brussels during the talks. We insist on dialogue because a diplomatic solution is the only way to resolve the conflict”, said Obradovic.
She thanked Ambassador Chauhan for her cooperation with the members of the PFG with India as well as her involvement in the activities of the Women’s Parliamentary Network and events organized by the Serbian parliament. She opined that an exchange of experiences with Indian parliamentarians in the field of women’s, human and political rights would be greatly beneficial.
PFG members Ljiljana Malusic, Vera Jovanovic, Tijana Davidovac, Milanka Jevtovic Vukojicic, Bojan Torbica and Dr Dragana Barisic also took part in the meeting which proceeded to focus on the participation of women in India’s political life.
