Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Committee Chairperson Talks to Representatives of UN Women about Project “Improving Women’s Safety in Serbia”
The Chairperson of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality Jasmina Karanac talked with representatives of UN Women about the realization of project “Improving Women’s Safety in Serbia”.
The representatives of UN Women briefed the Committee Chairperson on the activities realized under the auspices of project “Improving Women’s Safety in Serbia” conducted by UN Women in partnership with the Ministry of the Interior and with the financial support of the Kingdom of Norway. The project has three components, including the introduction of electronic surveillance over the implementation of pronounced emergency measures stipulated by the Law on Prevention of Domestic Violence. The pilot project is to cover ten police administrations. The participants discussed past and planned consultations concerning the initiative and the experiences of Spain and Portugal which had introduced the programme 10 years ago.
The participants of the meeting agreed to include the Committee into the consulting in view of the National Assembly’s oversight role.
Natalija Ostojic attended the meeting on behalf of UN Women, as well as consultants Biljana Stepanov and Dr Uros Novakovic.
