National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Israel Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic met today at the National Assembly with the Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Serbia H.E. Alona Fisher Kamm to discuss how best to further the two countries’ interparliamentary cooperation.
The officials agreed that the recent visit of Israeli high-school students to Serbia was a success and Ambassador Fisher Kamm said that they were especially pleased by their meeting with the National Assembly’s PFG with Israel. On the occasion they broached an initiative to organize a visit of Serbian young people to Israel so that they could learn more about the country’s history, culture and institutions.
Prof. Dr Vladimir Marinkovic said he was very happy with the effort invested into fostering close and strong ties between Serbia and Israel and pointed out that there is room to solidify economic ties. Ambassador Fisher Kamm said that the Law on remedying the consequences of the seizure of assets of Holocaust victims with no living legal heirs, unanimously adopted and successfully implemented, is especially important for the Jewish community in Serbia because it is solid proof of friendship and respect.
