The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Japan Dunja Simonovic Bratic had a farewell meeting today with the outgoing Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Serbia Japanese Akira Imamura, during which the officials confirmed the high level of bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy for strengthening ties between them.
Simonovic Bratic stressed that Serbia and Japan are bound by a sincere, traditional friendship that transcends geographical distance between them. She added that political relations are at a historic high, sustained by mutual respect and continued support in key areas of development.
The Head of the PFG with Japan said that the cooperation between the two countries is not just formal, it is deeply rooted in solidarity and shared values. "Japan is one of the most important donors and investors in Serbia, and our Parliamentary Friendship Group with Japan remains committed to further improving these ties," she stated.
Simonovic Bratic expressed great satisfaction that Japan will be one of the key participants in the EXPO 2027 Specialized Exhibition in Belgrade. Serbia deeply values the exchange of experiences in organising mass events as this.
Emphasising the importance of parliamentary cooperation, Ambassador Imamura noted that the Japanese investors’ trust stems directly from the stable business environment that Serbia offers. He particularly stressed that the cordiality and openness of Serbian citizens create a unique atmosphere in which Japanese citizens and companies feel welcome, which sends a strong impulse for the further arrival of new investors. The Ambassador thanked the PFG for the cooperation, especially its Head Simonovic Bratic.
At the end of the meeting, Dunja Simonovic Bratic wished the Ambassador good luck in his future work, with the message that the National Assembly will remain a reliable partner in all future projects that contribute to the prosperity of both countries.
