The Head of the PFG noted that over the past year, since the establishment of the Parliamentary Group, the two parliaments maintained the continuity of cooperation, through regular communication with Armenian partners, support for bilateral initiatives and strengthening of mutual understanding on issues of common interest. He emphasised that the Parliamentary Group has actively worked to promote cooperation in the fields of culture, education, tourism and economy, as well as to encourage contacts between economic and institutional actors of the two countries.
Cotric especially stressed the importance of the Republic of Armenia’s principled position in terms of respecting Republic of Serbia’s territorial integrity and non-recognising the so-called state of Kosovo, for which he expressed gratitude to the Armenian side.
The officials exchanged views on the current geopolitical situation and security challenges in the wider region, agreeing that dialogue, cooperation and mutual support are of exceptional importance in the face of global challenges.
They especially focused on highlighting the importance of improving interparliamentary cooperation, both through high-level visits and meetings, and through intensifying contacts between the two parliaments’ working bodies and parliamentary friendship groups.
Expressing satisfaction with the cooperation with the Parliamentary Friendship Group, Ambassador Hovakimyan noted that there is significant room for its further intensification, especially in the areas of cultural exchange, economy and education. He informed his hosts about the current political situation in Armenia, as well as the challenges that the country faces in the regional context.
