The Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Tunisia, Momir Stojanovic briefed the Tunisian Ambassador on the National Assembly’s competences as the supreme legislative body, the legislative procedure and the role the working bodies and MPs play in it. Stojanovic stressed that strengthening the National Assembly’s control role is a matter of particular importance.
In the course of the meeting, the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Tunisia thanked Tunisia for its principled attitude and non-recognition of Kosovo independence which helped the search for a compromise solution for the situation in Kosovo-Metohija.
Ambassador Hamlaoui briefed his hosts on the current political situation in Tunisia following the 2011 political changes and the on-going democratisation process in the country.
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Tunisia and the Tunisian Ambassador agreed that the trade exchange between the two countries should be boosted, at the same time listing the perspectives for improving cooperation in the spheres of agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, industry and tourism. They also agreed that organising reciprocal parliamentary delegation visits should prove truly beneficial for the exchange of two parliaments’ experience.
In addition to the Head of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Tunisia, Momir Stojanovic, the meeting with the Tunisian Ambassador was also attended by Parliamentary Friendship Group members Ninoslav Giric, Dr Milan Knezevic, Ljiljana Miladinovic, Ljubica Milosevic, Jasmina Obradovic, Prof. Dr Mileta Poskurica, Cedomir Protic, Dr Aleksandra Tomic and MP Biljana Pantic Pilja.
