Gojkovic in Strasbourg at European Conference of Presidents of Parliament
The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Maja Gojkovic will be taking part in the Conference of Presidents of Parliament in Strasbourg, 24 – 25 October, marking the 70th anniversary of the Council of Europe, a gathering of over 40 heads of parliament and their deputies, as well as heads of international parliamentary organizations.
The Conference organized by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe under the overreaching theme of “Our Common European Home: the next 70 years” will be opened by the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Liliane Maury Pasquier and the Council Secretary-General Marija Pejcinovic Buric. The President of the French National Assembly Richard Ferrand and the President of the Swiss National Council Marina Carobbio Guscetti will also speak at the beginning of the debate. The heads of parliament will also discuss “Implementing the UN 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals: contribution by Parliaments”, as well as “Women in politics and in the public discourse - What role can national Parliaments play in combatting the increasing level of harassment and hate speech towards female politicians and parliamentarians?”
The Head of the Serbian Assembly’s standing delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Aleksandra Tomic is also part of the National Assembly delegation.
