Gojkovic urged for a further intensification of economic relations, pointing out the reform processes in Serbia and the numerous laws passed recently to create a favourable environment for investment and economic development, such as the laws on labour, privatisation, planning and construction.

Sellal said that the existing economic relations are good and have plenty of potential for further development, adding that the two countries will work on it, especially since there are no obstacles in the way.

Sellal said that agriculture and water resources should be the focus of particular attention because they have big developmental capacities, adding that it would be useful to intensify relevant contacts to that end. He stressed that both sides should develop energy cooperation since energy is a key developmental issue.

Gojkovic thanked Prime Minister Sellal on Algeria’s principled policy toward Kosovo-Metohija i.e. the fact that it has not recognised the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija.

Gojkovic will also speak with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika and the President of the Algerian National Council Abdelkader Bensalah, having already met with the Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly Mohamed Larbi Ould Khelifa.

Gojkovic laid a wreath at the Monument at the WW1 Serbian military cemetery in the Algerian municipality of Deli Ibrahim.

The National Assembly Speaker will also be meeting with Foreign Minister Ramtan Lamamra and Minister of Relations with the Parliament Tahar Khaoua.
