Global Parliamentary Report 2017 Recognizes National Assembly’s Qualities

According to the UNDP and Inter-Parliamentary Union’s analysis for this year, the Global Parliamentary Report 2017 sees the National Assembly as a global best practice example of openness.


The Report was presented at the most recent, 137th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union. According to the Global Report the National Assembly has achieved an exceptional level of openness and transparency, won a high degree of civil trust, and was especially commended for the practice of public hearings with their regular involvement of citizens and public experts, sessions outside of the Assembly seat (so-called mobile parliament) and inclusion on the public in the work of parliamentary bodies, the Public Finance Supervision Portal, Parliamentary Budget Office and the activities of the six informal parliamentary groups covering a range of topics and comprising members of diverse political parties viz. Women’s Parliamentary Network, Economic Caucus, Greens, Energy Forum, GOPAC National Branch and the Focus Group for the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
