Fourth Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 12 October, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society considered, in principle, the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education, submitted by the Government.


On the behalf of the submitter the Bill was presented by Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Vesna Mandic. She said that the amendments concern the status of students who enrolled into the first year of university in 2006/2007-2013/2014 school year by which they retain the right to be funded from the budget for a maximum of one year after the expiry of their regular study period. The amendments also state that the student can be funded from the budget if during the 2014/2015 and/or 2015/2016 school year he/she achieves a minimum of 48 ESPB points and ranks within the total of students funded from the budget as stipulated by with the law.

The Committee adopted the Bill amending and modifying the Law on Higher Education, in principle.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Muamer Zukorlic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Ratko Jankov, Olena Papuga, Mihailo Jokic, Ljibuska Lakatos, MA Aleksandra Jerkov, Fatmir Hasani, Dr Ljubinko Rakonjac, Djordje Kosanic, Natasa St. Jovanovic, Prof. Dr Ljubisa Stojmirovic, Milena Bicanin and Marko Parezanovic.
