At the fourteenth sitting held on 27 July, the Culture and Information Committee discussed the Information on the election process for two Council members of the Serbia’s Republic Broadcasting Agency. The sitting was chaired by Vesna Marjanovic, Committee Chairperson.

Elaborating the information, the Committee Chairperson stated that associations of broadcast media, journalists, film and drama artists and composers as authorised nominators, had submitted to the Committee a finalised proposal containing the names of two candidates for RBA Council members. The Independent Association of Journalists of Serbia (NUNS) and the Independent Association of Journalists of Vojvodina (NDNV) nominated journalist Gordana Susa, and the Association of Journalists of Serbia journalist Milan Becejic. Both candidates were endorsed by ANEM and APRES (along with BARS and RTV PRESS), and journalist Becejic was also endorsed by SERBIAN TV NETWORK.

The Committee members decided to forward the proposal to the National Assembly in order to elect one candidate for RBA Council member from the field of the media.

Regarding the election of RBA Council member from the ranks of domestic non-government organizations, the Committee noted the nomination of five candidates. The Committee decided to extend the deadline so that the nominators may finalise their proposal and narrow it down to a two-candidate list.

The Committee members also discussed the Information on the election process for members of the Programme Council of the Serbian Broadcasting Agency.

Vesna Marjanovic reminded all in attendance that at the sitting of 26 March this year the Committee ruled to address the National Assembly Speaker and all the deputy groups with an invitation to nominate candidates for five Programme Council members in proportion to the number of deputies they have at the National Assembly. In the meantime, LDP, SPS and the Minorities’ Deputy Groups have already submitted their nominations.

The Committee decided to re-invite the deputy groups which have not nominated candidates for members of the Serbian RBA Programme Council.
