Fortieth Sitting of the Agriculture Committee

At the fortieth sitting of the Agriculture Committee, the Committee members considered the adopted regulations on the allocation of the 2012 budget.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zoran Masic, and attended by representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management and representatives of the Organising Committee of Dissatisfied Farmers.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture Milos Milovanovic said that the Government adopted the Regulation on diesel fuel compensations, as well as regulations aimed at stimulating crop production: Regulation on the conditions and manner of use of tobacco leaf production premiums, Regulation on the conditions and manner of use of premiums for the production of cereals and potatoes and the Regulation on the conditions and manner of use of premiums for industrial plants. The regulations aim to boost production, boost export, as well as increase subsidies, said Milovanovic.
Speaking on the behalf of the Organising Committee of Dissatisfied Farmers, Miroslav Ivkovic stressed that the implementation of the new policy of subsidising per yield not per hectare i.e. surface can prove problematic for small farmers, pointing out that the system of subsidising per hectare is used all over Europe.
The Committee members debated the regulations and agreed that fruit and vegetable production subsidies should also be increased.
The Committee went on to adopt a conclusion, by a majority of votes, to propose that the Ministry of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management and Government revoke the regulations, particularly the Regulation on diesel fuel compensations and the regulations aimed at stimulating crop production, as well as a conclusion endorsing the request of the Organising Committee of Dissatisfied Farmers to review the requests of the agricultural production and forward their requests to the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Trade, Forestry and Water Management.
