Foreign Affairs Committee Chairperson and Members Meet with Tanzania’s National Assembly Speaker

National Assembly Deputy Speaker and Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee Marina Ragus and the Committee member met with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the United Republic of Tanzania Mussa Zungu currently in official visit to the Republic of Serbia.

Marina Ragus opined that this visit could be the beginning of an intensification of interparliamentary contacts and cooperation.

Parliament Speaker Mussa Zungu agreed that there is ample room to improve relations between the two countries, both at the parliamentary level and in the areas of education, culture, security, food industry and sports. He particularly emphasised the importance of the opportunity to provide scholarships for ten Tanzanian students to study in Serbia.

The officials also exchanged views on the current geopolitical developments in the world. They agreed that respect for international law, the United Nations Charter, and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of each state is of paramount importance.

"When one precedent of public international law occurs, such as in the case of NATO aggression, and consequently the unilateral declaration of independence of so-called Kosovo, the question is when the next one will come," stressed Ragus, referring specifically to the situation regarding Greenland.

In their conversation, Ragus and Zungu jointly assessed that a multipolar world is the only possible system that will bring respect, integrity, and fairness to all states, regardless of size and strength.

The meeting was also attended by Foreign Affairs Committee members Aleksandar Mirkovic, Dragan Markovic and Vladimir Djordjevic, who briefed the Tanzanian Parliament Speaker on the situation in Kosovo-Metohija, at the same time highlighting the need to respect international law and the UN Charter. They also expressed satisfaction with Tanzania's confirmation of participation in the EXPO specialized exhibition in 2027.
