Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman and Cuban Ambassador Discuss Strengthening Interparliamentary Cooperation

Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Cuban Ambassador to Serbia, H.E. Gustavo Tristá del Todo to discuss how best to improve interparliamentary cooperation.

At the beginning of the meeting Obradovic congratulated the newly-elected Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel adding that Serbia stands ready to improve the traditionally good relations with Cuba and the friendship with the Cuban people.

The officials agreed that the overall cooperation between the two countries is excellent, but there is still room for improvement especially in the spheres of economy, education, medicine and agriculture. The Ambassador said that in the course of his diplomatic mission in Serbia he would try to raise the cooperation in a number of spheres to an even higher level.

Prof. Dr Obradovic and the Cuban Ambassador concluded that an exchange of visits of the heads of the foreign affairs committees and parliamentary friendship groups of two countries would help advance interparliamentary cooperation.

Obradovic also thanked Cuba for its principled position of non-recognition of the unilaterally declared independence of Kosovo-Metohija and for its support in international organizations.
