Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Meets with Russian Ambassador to Serbia

The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic and the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia, H.E. Alexander Chepurin, met today at the National Assembly House.

During the meeting the officials agreed how important the two countries’ cooperation is both at the interparliamentary level and in other areas such as culture and education, stressing that despite the close relations between the National Assembly and the Duma there is ample room for further development of interparliamentary cooperation. The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Prof. Dr Zarko Obradovic said that a Parliamentary Friendship Group in Russia would soon be set up, adding that the Committee also had activities planned to further and improve the traditionally good cooperation. One of the planned activities is to hold the second session of the interparliamentary Commission before the end of the year. The National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation set up the interparliamentary cooperation Commission on 17 December 2015 in Moscow, with the aim of promoting and deepening political, economic, social and cultural relations between the two countries, and Belgrade is to host the next meeting.
