Focus on Cultural Cooperation with UAE
The members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with the United Arab Emirates met today, at the National Assembly House, with the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Serbia, H.E. Mubarak Saeed Ahmed Barasheed Al Dhaheri.
Jelena Zaric Kovacevic, Head of the PFG with the United Arab Emirates, highlighted the high level of cooperation between the two countries reflected in their rich economic cooperation, as well as cooperation in the fields of transportation and investment and through the UAE’s significant donations and projects thanks to which many of Serbia’s schools and hospitals have been reconstructed and modernized. “Serbia will work on the intensification of bilateral cooperation in the fields of transportation, agriculture, economy and toward the development of cultural cooperation which is also very important”, said Zaric Kovacevic suggesting a presentation of the two countries’ cultures in Serbia. She added that it would also be good to deepen and intensify cooperation between the parliamentary friendship groups.
Ambassador Al Dhaheri hopes that the interparliamentary cooperation would soon be expanded because both the Serbian and UAE parliamentarians are very interested to see it happen. He stressed that the cooperation with Serbia is at an admirable level practically across the board, despite the geographical distance between the countries, adding that he hoped that many already realized projects would be followed by new ones.
“Economic cooperation provides the groundwork for cooperation in other fields. Project “Belgrade Waterfront” is just one of many which profit both sides and I hope we will realize many more quality projects”, the Ambassador concluded.
The PFG members all agreed how important it is to develop cultural cooperation through projects which would make the Serbian people more familiar with UAE culture and vice versa and build a bridge to connect the two friendly nations.
