The Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Predrag Markovic, convened two sittings of the First Regular Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2006.

Mr Markovic convened the first sitting for 10 a.m. on Monday 20 March, and the second for 11 a.m. on Monday 27 March.

The First Sitting is to consider several proposals of decisions on the election of judicial officials, proposed by the High Judicial Council, the Protection of Disabled Ex-Servicemen Bill, proposed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the election of members of the National University Education Council, nominated by authorised bodies, and the dismissal of the old and election of the new chairperson of the National Education Council.

In addition, the sitting is also to discuss election of members of the Council of the Competition Protection Commission, nominated by authorised bodies, the proposal of the decision on the election of a member of the Council of the National Bank of Serbia, submitted by the Finance Committee, and the proposal for the election of the Deputy Commissioner for Information of Public Importance, submitted by the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance.

The Second Sitting is to discuss the Bill on the Ratification of the Agreement Concluded Between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of the Republic of Montenegro and the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Mutual Assistance and Co-operation in Customs Matters, as well as several Bills on the provision of counter-guarantees of the Republic of Serbia to Serbia and Montenegro. These include counter-guarantees for a European Bank for Reconstruction and Development loan for the reconstruction of a section of the Belgrade-Novi Sad motorway, counter-guarantees for an International Development Association loans for the development of an irrigation and drainage rehabilitation project for Serbia and a consolidated collection and pension administration reform project, all proposed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
