First Sitting of the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality
The Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality held its first sitting on 24 July 2012.
At the sitting, convened by the National Assembly Speaker, as stipulated in Article 25, Paragraph 1 of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure, and chaired by the oldest Committee member, MP Vera Paunovic, from the Party of United Pensioners of Serbia (PUPS) Parliamentary Group, MP Meho Omerovic,from the Social Democratic Party of Serbia Parliamentary Group, was elected Committee Chairman, by a majority of votes.
Having taken over the chairing of the sitting, the Committee Chairman thanked his colleagues expressing his expectation that the Committee on Human and Minority Rights and Gender Equality would leave its mark on the work of the National Assembly in the forthcoming period.
The Committee agreed to elect the Committee Deputy Chairperson at one of the upcoming sittings.
