First Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012

At the request of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic convened the First Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012 for Wednesday, 8 February 2012, starting at 10 am.


The Request to hold the extraordinary session specifies the following agenda:


1. Proposal of the Decision on the Election of a High Judicial Council member from the ranks of appellate court judges, submitted by the High Judicial Council,

2. Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Deputy Public Prosecutors, submitted by the State Prosecutorial Council.


At the beginning of the proceedings, the National Assembly noted the resignation of Snezana Samardzic Markovic from the post of Minister of Youth and Sport.

The National Assembly Speaker greeted the members of ROTAR AKT club from Belgrade who viewed part of the session from the gallery of the Grand Hall.

For the remainder of the day, the National Assembly conducted and concluded a single debate on the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of a High Judicial Council member from the ranks of appellate court judges and the Proposal of the Decision on the Election of Deputy Public Prosecutors.

As the National Assembly had completed the debate on all the items on the agenda, National Assembly Speaker Slavica Djukic Dejanovic informed the MPs that they would be duly notified about the date of the Voting Day session.

Voting Day


On Voting Day, 27 February, by a majority of votes, the National Assembly elected Miroljub Tomic, judge of the Kragujevac Appellate Court, High Judicial Council member from the ranks of appellate court judges.

By a majority of votes, the National Assembly elected Vladimir Djordjevic and Miodrag Markovic Deputy Public Prosecutors at the First Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, Branislava Mihajlovic Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Vranje and Vesna Ostojic Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kragujevac.

Miroslav Rakic was elected Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Sad and Bojan Prstojevic was elected Deputy Public Prosecutor at the Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Sabac.

On Voting Day, the National Assembly also ruled on the violations of the Rules of Procedure the MPs complained of in the course of the session and decided that none of the provisions of the National Assembly Rules of Procedure had been violated.

As the National Assembly had completed the discussion on all the items on the agenda for the session and ruled on them, National Assembly Speaker Prof. Dr Slavica Djukic Dejanovic concluded the First Extraordinary Session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia in 2012.
