The Chairman of the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending Veroljub Arsic spoke today with the President of the Council of the State Audit Institution (DRI), Ivica Gavrilovic, about issues and activities of mutual importance.
Arsic said that the Committee is interested in continuing the successful cooperation with the DRI, with the desire to raise it to an even higher level. He took this opportunity to congratulate Gavrilovic on his election to the position of DRI Council President, adding that, over the past 10 years, the DRI has raised audit standards, expanded the way it conducts audits by introducing performance audits, and is continuously increasing its capacities in order to conduct as many audits as possible of entities spending public funds. He added that the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending monitors the way in which international organisations engaged in audit work evaluate the work of the DRI.
The President of the Council of the State Audit Institution Ivica Gavrilovic said that this institution is one of the best rated and fastest growing state audit institutions in the region, adding that it will strive to maintain and improve this rating in the coming period. He went on to say that the DRI is very interested in coordinating joint activities with the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending on special programmes, especially the public administration reform programme, as well as in developing the audit programme for the next year.
The officials agreed that programmes of this kind are of great importance for reducing bureaucratic procedures in public administration and overcoming the problem of the so-called silence of the administration, as well as raising the level of efficiency of the administration itself and its active inclusion in the digitalisation process.
