Fifth Sitting of the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society

At the sitting held on 4 December 2022, the Committee on Education, Science, Technological Development and the Information Society deliberated, in principle, on the Republic of Serbia 2023 Budget Bill, Section 26 – Ministry of Education, submitted by the Government.


The Bill was presented Minister of Education Branko Ruzic who said that a total of 249.3 billion RSD has been allocated for Section 26 - Ministry of Education, which is an increase of 22.5 billion RSD compared to the previous year, excluding science, as by the new Law on Ministries, the former Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development has been structured differently.

Minister Ruzic said that compared to the November 2022 budget rebalance, the increase amounts to about 17 billion RSD.

He added that the total budget for 2023 was increased by 10% compared to 2022. The largest amount of the 2023 budget is allocated for the payment of salaries, compensations and social benefits to employees in school institutions.

Representatives of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance also attended and spoke at the sitting.

Following a discussion, the Committee members proposed that the Committee on Finance, State Budget and Control of Public Spending accept the Republic of Serbia 2023 Budget Bill, Section 26 – Ministry of Education.

The sitting was chaired by Committee Chairman Prof. Dr Marko Atlagic, and attended by the following Committee members and deputy members: Dr Zivan Bajic, Stojan Radenovic, Tatjana Medved, Prof. Dr Vladimir Obradovic, Ratko Nikolic, Prof. Dr Jahja Fehratovic, Dejana Vasic, Dragana Miljanic, Dejana Vasic, Prof. Dr Branimir Jovancicevic, Prof. Dr Djordje Pavicevic, Ljubinko Djurkovic and M.Sc. Djordje Kosanic.
